Airbnb Guest Review Templates

Fifteen copy-paste templates for reviewing Airbnb guests — the great ones, the in-between ones, and the difficult ones. Swap the placeholders in {curly braces} for the guest's name, number of nights, or the specific issue, and you're done.

Quick rules before you write

  • • Review every guest — high response rate matters.
  • • Stay factual. No emotion, no sarcasm, no speculation.
  • • For difficult guests, wait until day 13 of the 14-day window so they can't retaliate.
  • • Mention what would help other hosts, not what upset you.

Positive review templates

Default to one of these for the 80%+ of guests who are easy to host. A warm, specific review encourages them to leave one back — and guest reviews are still the single biggest driver of listing visibility.

The perfect guest

{name} was a fantastic guest. Communication was easy from booking to checkout, the apartment was left in excellent condition, and all house rules were respected. We'd happily host {name} again anytime — highly recommended to other hosts.

Returning guest

Always a pleasure hosting {name}. Respectful, tidy, and great at communicating any small requests. Exactly the kind of guest every host hopes for — welcome back any time.

Family / longer stay

{name} and family stayed with us for {nights} nights and were wonderful throughout. The home was left in great shape and any questions during the stay were handled politely. We'd host them again without hesitation.

Business traveler

{name} stayed with us on a work trip — quiet, self-sufficient, and left the place spotless. Easy to communicate with and respectful of the neighbors. A great fit for any host looking for a low-touch professional guest.

First-time Airbnb guest

Even as a first-time Airbnb user, {name} was a pleasure to host. Asked the right questions, followed the house manual, and left everything as expected. A great addition to the Airbnb community — recommended.

Neutral review templates

For guests who weren't a problem but didn't stand out. Keep it short, factual, and honest — neutral reviews are signal too.

Fine, nothing to flag

{name} stayed with us for {nights} nights. Communication was straightforward and the property was returned in acceptable condition. No issues to report.

Quiet, low communication

{name} kept to themselves during the stay and we had minimal contact, which was fine. The apartment was left in reasonable condition at checkout. A neutral but problem-free stay.

Minor house-rule slip

{name} was friendly and easy to talk to. There were a couple of small house-rule reminders needed during the stay, but nothing serious — they responded politely and adjusted.

Difficult guest review templates

Use sparingly and only when other hosts genuinely need to know. Stick to what happened, leave out the editorializing, and Airbnb is far more likely to keep your review live if the guest disputes it.

Left the place messy

While communication during the stay was fine, the apartment required additional cleaning beyond what's expected for a short stay — dishes left unwashed, trash not bagged, and food residue on surfaces. Future hosts may want to reinforce checkout expectations in advance.

Smoking indoors

Unfortunately {name} smoked inside the apartment despite the listing being clearly non-smoking. The smell required extra cleaning and we had to block the calendar for an additional day. Cannot recommend for non-smoking properties.

Unregistered extra guests

{name} booked for {booked} guests but arrived with {actual}. After being asked, the additional guests stayed for the entire booking. Hosts who enforce guest counts for capacity or insurance reasons should be aware.

Damage to the property

We had to file a claim during {name}'s stay for damage to {item}. Communication around the issue was difficult and the situation took longer than expected to resolve. Future hosts may want to be cautious.

Excessive noise / party

Neighbors reported significant noise and what appeared to be a gathering well past quiet hours, despite house rules clearly prohibiting parties. Not suitable for residential buildings or noise-sensitive properties.

Very poor communication

{name} was difficult to reach throughout the booking — check-in instructions and important messages went unanswered for long stretches. The stay itself was uneventful, but other hosts should expect to chase for responses.

Late checkout without notice

Checkout was several hours past the listed time without prior notice, which affected our cleaning schedule and the following arrival. Other than that, the apartment was returned in reasonable condition.

A note on private feedback

Public reviews are for future hosts. Private feedback is for the guest. If the issue was small — a missed checkout step, dishes left out — say it in private feedback and keep the public review neutral. If the issue affects whether others should host this guest, it belongs in the public review.

We write reviews for you

Reviewing every guest within the window — and handling the difficult ones diplomatically — is part of Hearthkey's 24/7 guest communication and reputation management. You get a higher response rate, more guest reviews back, and zero awkward messaging to write yourself.
